It is very good book for beginners like me

It is very good book for beginners and advanced users. But you should have included some more examples Santhi Kiran from hyderabad

The only printed manual of the syntax I can find.

I am one of the people that likes a printed manual instead of online help. This is the only printed manual of Transact SQL and the stored procedures that I have been able to locate. It also tells me what is new in version 7. Since I am a strong 6.5 user, I found this reference book useful. The title is Complete Reference and that's what this book delivers.

Excellent Reference

This book is an excellent "reference" containing a good bit of information about everything. If you need detailed information about any specific topic, such as DTS, this book isn't for you. You won't find chapters devoted to one topic. However, it is one of the first 7.0 books out of the gate and it is excellent at what it is intended for, "reference".I feel compelled to make this specific notation about the author's claim: The author claims to have administered "3,500 databases at once"! This is utterly ridiculous. Perhaps Gayle is omnipotent, or maybe she has been spending time with Wilt Chamberlain...

What a good overview and reference for SQL Server DBA's. See what's new and changed and look up all the new powerful features. It's really practical to use.

I was amazed at how much has changed.

The single machine upgrade and the two machine upgrade are explained = which I found useful and a whole chapter is devoted to the upgrade to = version 7.0. This book covers the brand new features of version 7 and = there is a lot of ground to cover. I was amazed at how much has changed = from version 6.5.
