Our narrator Oliver is a washed-up science fiction writer. He's a widower. He lives in a shipping container by the San Francisco Bay. And he's writing a new novel, in which he's the main character. And then he meets Carol. And they discover the sqinks. Sqinks is transreal cyberpunk love story. I use the my word "transreal" to refer to SF tales that mirror the author's own life. That is to say, the novel is about Rudy. The sqinks' motives are complex. One of them chops open our hero Oliver's head with a chrome axe. His brain is replaced by a small sqink inside his skull. Oliver's naked brain ends up in Sqinkland. His Carol goes after him. And all along, Oliver is writing an account of what's happening. Writing his world. Crafting his masterpiece. Sqinks!
