Beware, This Is A Modernized Version, Not The Og (Also Includes Unnecessary Transphobia)

I bought this thinking it was the 1906 script, since it was listed as such, but it’s a modernized take. There’s nothing wrong with a modern take of this story, but it doesn’t take advantage of its new possibilities. There is poor punctuation that makes the dialogue confusing. The social media element makes it cringe worthy. The characters are not very interesting. I had to put the book down after reading the offensive scene about the transgender community. Again, I have not read the original yet so that might have been included since the beginning, but this was rewritten in 2014. It’s punching down and has no importance to the story. Spring awakening has famously been adapted to a musical and carried on with the story just fine (probably just better in general) without punching down on a vulnerable community, especially in this day and age. I’m saddened to have spent money on a cringey, harmful, and poorly formatted book
