Oh, my heart.

This is a quiet movie, much like The Pianist, in tone. The story takes time. The acting of all, this poor family of 4, who quickly becomes 3, is forced by everyone to bend and bend and bend till they break. The quality of acting...is not so much the words, it is in expressions, body language, the eyes, phenomenal. There are, aside from the soldiers, no one who is not under pressure, fear, desperation. I think this is the finest acting I have seen Joseph Finnes give so far. I have not had the opportunity to see Luther yet but heard he was great. The children...not easy to do that fear at such an age. Gold. Both women who played his wife, younger, older, top notch. Near the end, in the forest, the acting by Clare Higgins made me weep. I need to watch a few more times. This is deep. Neve McIntosh and Kelly Harrison, ☆☆☆☆☆. They are all ☆☆☆☆☆.
