Since the demise of the Cold War this specialized technology has been transferred to the civilian sector where there are many applications and great interest. This edition features a section which addresses consumer and commercial uses of spread spectrum systems. Comprehensively describes techniques so readers can readily apply them to actual situations.
Great place to start in the getting up to speed on SS systems. Concise and clear. However, you will need to go further a feild if you need to delve into the shift register sequences and CDMA is not discussed very well. (i.e. no mention of walsh/hadamard coding etc.) Have designed systems just using this book.
Excellent Book! Well written and effectively organized.

Bob Dixon leads the reader through the basics and then into the details of direct sequence and frequency hop. He then compares CDMA to TDMA relative to the number of communication channels andpoints out that CDMA may be less than ideal for commercial communications when maximum flux density is not an issue. I liked the book and it will be a handy reference for several years. ed
