Sports in Minas Gerais

The main purpose of this work is to conduct an exploratory analysis of data on the budget execution of the State of Minas Gerais related to sports, from 2010 to 2020. Specifically, it seeks to observe whether the fiscal crisis faced by the Brazilian State and other entities of the Federation as of 2015 had any impact on the promotion of sports public policies, since the practice of sports has the potential to generate numerous individual and collective benefits. To this end, data from the Transparency Portal of Minas Gerais were analyzed, specifically the liquidated expenses linked to the Sports and Leisure function during the mentioned period, in addition to data relating to other entities of the federation, available in the Accounting and Fiscal Information System of the Brazilian Public Sector - Siconfi, in order to verify whether the situation found in Minas Gerais is repeated in other states.
