Practical in multiple ways

I actually picked up this book for the spirituality it offered, as I am not involved with AA or similar organizations. Nonetheless, I'd like to point out that EVEN if one isn't looking for a spiritual guide through the AA program, this book offers a spiritual guide through difficult times in general, if you are able to apply what Major discusses in this book, one will find himself on the road to transformation. Well worth the investment for anyone.

To thine own self be true

Well written, concise, thoughtful, and well researched. Lots of people will be getting this book from me, especially the people I sponsor. Without being preachy or using psycho-babble,it makes spirituality approachable, even to people who have a problem with "believing in God." To thine own self be true would be another subtitle for this refreshing book.

Any path that works

I have been in recovery for eighteen years now, and have sponsored dozens of guys who have problem coming to grips with the higher power part of a twelve step program. This book is a terrific tool. I gave mine to a sponsee, so I have to get some more: my advice is order several! I also came to a deeper understanding about God as I dont understand God... if that makes sense to you, this book is perfect!
