SPIRITUAL GIFTS IN THE CHURCH AGE: CONSIDERED EXEGETICALLY

This monograph focuses on scriptural information on spiritual gifts. Despite the fact that the Apostle Paul wrote three lengthy chapters (1Corinthians 12, 13, & 14 plus) to dispel ignorance about gifts, the reverse is the case in many local churches. The subject is too important to ignore. God, through Paul, is saying, "I want you to be knowledgeable on this subject: the Corinthians will be my object-lesson for you."

Spiritual gifting is that which sustains and edifies the local church. These gifts provide the stamina of the very Holy Spirit in every local church, each a microcosm of the Body of Christ. That Paul sought to dispel ignorance of the Corinthians on this very important issue ought to speak volumes to us. There is too much information in his epistles for anyone to be guilty of culpable ignorance.

Just what are these gifts? What are their purposes? Can each be defined? Have some ceased and others remained? If so, which? And equally as serious: why have we, who hold the Word of God so dear, heard so very little of them? This monograph will answer these questions and more.
