recently recieved the spectrum k/1st/2nd grade work books kids could not wait to dig and start working. We have tried many different brands of work books with our kids since they began homeschooling,thought we would try the spectrum books. {GOOD POINTS} Ive Looked them all over and all seem to be well put together and has a better material coverage than our local school system for this grade group. Print is just the right size to be easily seen and read without influencing the young ones to revert back to writing jumbo. Good picure to work ratio with the balance being on the work side of the scale {Not the case with many of the work books on the market..which have too many pictures and very little actual work} {BAD POINTS} If they have a down side it has not yet been revealed. {SUGGESTIONS} It would be nice to see these in a complete grade by grade bundle to make ordering a little simpler. It would also be nice to see these with a printable work sheet cd or in a printable cd version. Other than that...So far...I would not change a thing. I would recomend that anyone homeschooling give these a try...I dont think they would be dissapointed.

This really works! - by a private tutor

As a teacher and private tutor, I use all 5 levels of the Spectrum Reading series with my students. The kids love the stories about Little Critter and the other characters. This kindergarten level is very good because not only does it have phonics and beginning reading exercises, but half the book is devoted to actual reading of stories with a simple, controlled vocabulary. This is unusual in a book at such an early level but because the words are repeated and the stories are very short, my students at a kindergarten reading level are able to actually read which gives them confidence and prepares them to move directly into Spectrum Reading level 1 as well as their grade one schoolwork.

Good Work Book

This is a great workbook for the beginning Kindergartener. I bought these before I knew about the Spectrum Starburst series but still like it. My daughter liked it as well. It was easy for her to do, that is why I said it was good for a beginning Kindergartener. She has now began the Grade 1 Spectrum Starburst series, so it was a great beginning work book. The Critter family made it fun to learn!
