A breath of fresh air!

This book is intelligent and honest. I appreciate his candor and his ability to communicate an idea with appropriate conviction. Sometimes bold and in your face, but softer when appropriate. I agree with about 80% of his theology. I strongly disagree with his Universalist views regarding salvation, but he offers intelligent, respectable explainations for his beliefs. We need more books like this to shake Evangelicals up a bit and remind us of who we serve, how we serve and why.

Tony Talks Tough

This book solidifies Tony's role as a speaker who pulls no punches when preaching Christ. He takes apart the "evangelically correct" responses to some of contemporary societies thornier issues by assessing WWJD? The answers may surprise, infuriate and delight but he definitely starts the discussion in an insightful and biblically based fashion.

Challenging, real, hopeful....

I appreciate Tony's voice as brave and needed now more than ever. I appreciate the worship that this book is, worship of Christ not of country, politics, church or any other idol. I believe that honesty is more important than dogmatism and that anything that conquers the fear of not conforming will bring life to the church. Thank you Tony. Great book.

Never Careful Campolo

Tony Campolo is unfuriating, combustable, outrageous, and once again on target. In Speaking My Mind he again tackles more hot potatoes of faith, this time with a less-sure and thus even more credible effect. Dogmatic, he ain't. Oh, that the world knew the Jesus of whom Campolo writes so eloquently and honestly. I would take a small step out into the world of speculation to imagine God reading Tony Campolo and saying, "Man, this guy is confused but finally, somebody's coming close to getting it right."

Renewing the Christian Mind

Finally, with Tony Campolo we find a voice for Christians who do not feel comfortable with the way many evangelicals have blindly aligned themselves with the political right promoting war, militarism, materialism, patriotism and other "values," which are contrary to Christ's message. Campolo calls for repentence, revival and renewal in the evangelical Christian community. This book provides hope for those Christians who feel outcast in their churches because they rely on the words of Jesus to guide them rather than a political party! An answer to prayer!
