An enjoyable read

The prologue draws you in, giving you a sneak peek at what you are to expect from the story. Then, the story takes awhile to take off, because it isn't for 100 pages that someone gets murdered. This is not to say the first 100 pages are boring or difficult to read, it's just that you want to find out what happens so badly because of the prologue that you actually find yourself expecting a murder to occur on every page. But when the murders do occur, the book becomes a nonstop page turner that was almost impossible for me to turn down. The serial killer has some clever ways of killing people which makes me wonder how the young author comes up with these ideas. The best thing about the book is that every character has some kind of secret and can easily be the killer, but when it's actually figured out- in a very clever ending- you will have never expected it. It's a good read, and the characters are all very different (some even funny)- you actually get a feel as if you know them.

Top 3 books I've read this year!

I was honestly surprised at how good this book was. My wife actually was mad at how much I talked about it when I was reading it. It kept me glued to its pages, and I was in for a shocker when it ended. Oddly enough I was turned to this book early this month because someone was plugging it with some other book, and now I'm doing the same thing for it. It was a very different mystery, something that is hard to come by these days. Very clever idea (read it and see). I wish this kid luck, he reminds me a lot of James Patterson which gives me another author to look forward to. Thumbs way up! Also check out James Patterson's Mary, Mary and J.D. Robb's Memory in Death, my other two favorites this month.

Great book

This is a book that will make you want to read it again as soon as you are finished, just to see how well crafted it was. All the peices fit, leading to an excellently suspenseful murder mystery. I absolutely loved it. I was surprised to learn that this is only Demello's second book and that he is only 23, I was amazed at how creative he was. The serial killer in the story was on par with the one from the movie Se7en. I thought it was great. Kept me up all night. I would recommend it to any mystery lover. I can't wait to read his other novel, if it's as good as this one I'll be very happy.

Wondeful characters...too bad most die!

I can't say that this is the best book I've read, but it was certainly one of the most fun to read. It had such an original and twisted plot that it was difficult to put down for too long. The prologue pulls you in, and then the next 100 pages develop a wide variety of characters, most with serious problems and secrets (one character is especially likeable). Then, a murdered body is found and all hell breaks loose. At this point in the book, the shocks and twists become full force. I quickly read chapter after chapter waiting to see what would happen next, and when the ending came I was extremely shocked! It was a very fun read, much different from the thrillers that are out there, most of which are cast from the same type of script. I also suggest getting Ironside's Death in the Garden, which is the book that drew me to this one originally.
