Speak!: Becoming a Powerful Public Speaker

Speak! is the study guide that presents the public speaking curriculum for all members of Communicators Club ("ComClub") in the US and Japan. ComClubs provides a growth opportunity for all who seek to improve their English speaking skills. Our speech projects teach basic public speaking skills and formats from first speeches through community and TEDx presentations. Members of community service clubs and public speaking groups such as Toastmasters International are encouraged to use this guidebook to extend their mastery of public speaking skills. Seniors use the ComClubs program to improve their ability to express themselves, tell stories, and engage in their community. English as a Second Language (ESL) students often use this guide to develop their spoken English skills through practice giving speeches before ComClubs groups in the US and Japan.

There are three parts to the ComClubs curriculum in Speak!Getting Started presents the basic skills of public speaking in five lively skill projects.Getting Results provides five skill projects that help you define exactly what results you want from your speeches and presentations. You are given templates that help you outline your message in ways that are proven to accomplish the results you have chosen. These projects include special emphasis on celebrations, humorous speeches, and storytelling. First you learn how to define what you want to achieve, then you learn proven ways to achieve your goals.Presentation Tools is a user guide to the skills and methods needed to produce successful online and live presentations. The focus is on internet delivery such as Zoom, with examples of effective ways to use features like Share Screen and Visual Backgrounds to get your message across with impact. You will find examples of slides and tips for increasing the impact of your presentations.Want to learn ways to write and tell your own stories? How to incorporate stories into your presentations? Want to multiply the power of your presentations, increase your impact in your organization or community? Speak! will give you tools you can use to reach your goals.
You can also use Speak! to get the most out of your experience of ComClubs membership. Members practice their skill projects and presentations at our online meetings, taking advantage of peer experience and feedback.
