Spangle: A children's fantasy tale entwined with magic and ghosts

Before she dies Aunt Daffodil tells Mabel that there will come a time when she must seek a dragon's head, but she must not go alone and the code word is Spangle and there is also a robin. Mabel is shocked to discover that the horrid Aunt Gertrude, who arrives to look after her, is planning to sell her to a nasty man. Mr Spangle is able to magic her to safety but they are tracked by Aunt Gertrude's accomplice, a man called a snifter who uses his nose to smell the prey he is trying to find. During her journey with Mr Spangle Mabel makes friends with ghosts and also an orphaned boy named Davie who becomes part of her quest to find her past.
