He that lives by the sword, shall die by the sword. And, though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not go unpunished. That is just what the whole story in this book is all about.
Tefiti and Naniba have been matched by their prophet as husband and wife. For a delay in childbearing, the couple abandon the prophet and his church. In search of a child, they visit many places, but all to no avail. However, God in his mercy, remembers them, and blesses them with a son called Tambo. The man wants the child to grow under discipline, but the woman is permissive, and wants their son to enjoy an unlimited leeway. She has more influence on the boy, because she spends most of the time with him. Unfortunately, the boy becomes wayward and mischievous. After many years, the couple come across the prophet again: the prophet claims that he has a revelation from God that Tambo must be delivered from a curse before he can lead a normal life-and he wants the boy to be brought to him for the deliverance. Tefititi is not interested: he has discovered that the prophet is false and devilish. But the woman still believes in the prophet, and makes sure that Tambo is taken to him. After two months with the prophet, Tambo becomes the worse ever: he becomes a dreaded desperado, who wreaks havoc to the entire nation, and makes the people to panic and tremble. But, the long arm of the law finally catches up with him, his accomplices, and his collaborators: they all pay with their blood, and Tefiti is vindicated.
