I am not from the West but if I were traveling there, these are the pictures and memories I would want to have taken. Mr. Ansaldi has captured the essence and spirit of traveling the backroads of the West through his words and especially his photographs. The book is full of photographs that reminded me of the Walker Evans photos of his travels through Okalahoma. I wish Mr. Ansaldi had entitled it Memories of the Roadside West so I would not have had the preconceived idea that it was going to be a book of travel collectibles instead of this wonderful travel log. I almost didn't pick it up and that's why I'm writing this review. So, other people will know that it is much more. It brings the reality of the backroads of the American West to your living room.
