i read this somewhere in between junior high and high school. i fell in love with it. as a teenager it felt so raw and real. i've read it many times, once last night. i sat up all night reliving all of kendall's heatbreak. at 24 i would still consider this one of the best books i've read, but perhaps that's because of how much i liked it as a teenager. i've always wondered if this was a story about the author or someone she knew...

this has always been one of my favorite books. although i haven't read it in a while i still love it. ms. snyder's use of language and emotion truly captured my attention. kendall isn't your typical character. she has depth and meaning to her. i loved ian as well. who wouldn't? together, the characters learn to heal and they do so beautifully.
Where is this author?

It's a shame that someone with such talent would not re-enter the literary world with another book, perhaps even moving to adult fiction. In Souviners, Snyder's words stir emotions and give splendid insight into a teenage girl's tortured soul. I want to read more from this author? Sit down again Ms. Snyder, and work some more magic. You have a gift. Don't let it go to waste.
This book is the best book!

Synder uses so many perfect fitting details in this book. You feel like you are there and are in Kendall's shoes. You feel her pain and feel sympathy for her. Even if you have never expeirenced death or love (as in boyfriend) you feel the pain and love given and recieved. If you liked this book I reccommend "The Unlikely Romance of Kate Bjorkman."
amazing, simply amazing

Few books I've read are this moving. It's magical. No, really, I mean it. The writing is lyrical and descriptive and she uses metaphors in a way I've never heard before, a way that shoves you into Kendall's world of Californa sun and nightmarish guilt. Maybe it's just me, but this book seemed to be choked with emotions, but they're stuff that real people can relate to, even if you've never dealt with death or loss that severe. I'm gushing, I know. But "Souvenirs" deserves it. Melissa Snyder tied in so much of high school life and worldly problems with a few carefully chosen words. There aren't that many books that can make you cry. This one can. It's an experience that's going to be hard for me to forget. Not that I really want to, though. I think, whether you're going through a hard time or not, "Souvenirs" is a pick-me-up; it proves that other people have hardships too. And, an added bonus, there's a happy ending.
