Southern Pacific Lines in 1994 consisted of 14,559 route miles operating in 15 states. SP operated in fifteen states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee,Texas and Utah. The railroad was divided into nine operating divisions, each headed by a superintendent.
