In August 1869, Major Thomas Palmer briefs his officers that Captain Harold Preston, a fellow U.S. Army agent/spy, will be leading a 600-strong attack force of "ex-Confederate" cavalry of the Southern Conspiracy against the fort warehouses where artillery guns are stored, sometime during the night. One of the Officers speaks up... "Major Palmer, when they are attacking, how will be able to tell who your agent is?" Palmer answered..."You will not. My agent knows the risk he is taking and has prepared himself for the worst."
