On June 30, 2010, the South Park Bridge was closed forever when its draw spans were permanently raised. In the process of photographing the bridge before it closed, the photographer happened upon, and then became intimately involved in, a water blessing ceremony that took place under the bridge on the banks of the Duwamish River.
