wonderful

First, let me disclose that the author is my aunt. That being said, I recently picked up this book after having read it back in the early 80s, when I was a young teenager. Now I am an adult, and a psychiatrist as well, which both add different perspectives to reading the book. I just love this it - it is masterful: raw, funny, touching, moving, insightful... It seems each word is meaningful and the book is packed with playful and sometimes sardonic observations, intriguing characters, complex relationships. I'm impressed and proud.

This is a whole new world beyond the usual exploration of mental illness. Complex. Mad. Authenic seeming within its own context. Right up there with ONE FLEW OVER THE COOKOO'S Nest, the book, not the movie.
