This person formed groups to spy on and influence the main character because of familial rivalry and a desire to harm the protagonist's reputation rather than financial gain.
The protagonist's life took a negative turn after graduating when she became entangled in this dishonest network. Discrimination at work and constant monitoring were commonplace occurrences. Every attempt was made to undermine their prospects for work and happiness, and their phone conversations were recorded.
Despite these challenges, the protagonist was able to discover love, but even their spouse was taken advantage of. Despite being separated, their love became stronger over the course of the 14 years of pain and observation. The protagonist tried to end their own life when their life reached a breaking point, which greatly affected their sensitive father.
By the end, the protagonist understood that there is no way out and that their family's collective efforts were what kept them alive. Though initially skeptical about the veracity of their account of captivity, their family nevertheless provided assistance for their recovery. Unfortunately, they were unable to reconcile with their sweetheart.
