My granddaughter has this little book memorized. She's only three years old but loves to "read" it to her baby brother. It's is a simple board book written in rhyme, reminiscent of Dr. Seuss, and with a religious focus. In the story, the child sneaks a cookie and breaks the cookie jar. In order to show he's really sorry he has to confess to his mom, clean up his mess, pray to his Father in Heaven. and then ultimately choose not to repeat the mistake. Although the message is religious, it is appropriate for any child -- or adult for that matter -- who wants to correct a mistake. The style is light-hearted and playful, and the illustrations are cute. The best part is the end when he goes to a friend's house and is urged to sneak cookies again. "I thought, and thought, and thought and thought -- and then I thought some more" (Illustrations show all the things he went through previously) "And then I said, 'no, thank you' and went out and shut the door."A good choice for a young child.
