Recommended for anyone thinking about the abortion issue

This novel is a good read and has a lot to say. Ms. Barfield has created a set of characters that you really care about and could actually know. Living in NC, the people and places seem so real -- she really got them right. The abortion issue is examined on all fronts. If people pick it up, expecting "Sorrows Multiplied" to be either pro-choice or pro-life, they will find it is neither. The problem is much more complex than those labels. I am certain that Ms. Barfield feels passionately about this issue, but could not tell you from reading this book whether she is on either of those "sides." She transcends partisanship in this humane, compelling narrative. (Note to my fellow males: Not a "Chick Book." If you are like me, the only thing you won't like about this novel is that you have to keep wiping your eyes. It will get to you that way.)
A Must Read for All Young Adults

The author invites the reader into a fast paced story of what it means to be a woman. The first chapter captures the reader; You know you are in for a rollercoaster of emotion. Everyone has dealt with or knows someone who has had to deal with the "what if" question. Barfield walks you though different women and men's' experience with abortion. It is a fantastic fictional account that does not preach which side is correct. Sorrow Multiplied simply brings all the emotions that are attached to this tumultuous issue to the reader. It's a must read for all young adults.
Amazing effort by first-time novelist

I've heard that everyone has a book in them, but I didn't know Staci had a book like this in her. We've been friends for years, and I've seen her succeed at everything she's tried her hand at, but a book? Yes, even writing novels. Sorrows Multiplied is a page-turning story about abortion and its impact in the 60's, and I learned so much about what it was like for women during that time while avidly following the interrelated story lines. I can't wait for her next book!
Tops my 'summer reading' list

To be kind to this author and a mutual friend of ours I ordered this book...never having imagined the impact it would have on me. From the moment I began this journey of heart-wrenching issues to the very end I was totally absorbed in each page. The characters were so real to me and I found myself imagining the outcome of their options as they handled real-life situations. This book's author is so insightful to the 'real world' and I anxiously await her next rendering. Hopefully, it will be in the near future as I haven't found another book this summer to compare with SORROWS MULTIPLIED.
