While sharing is good to do, I think it is a decision that kids should be able to make on their own. In The Rainbow Fish it kind of pushes a message that in order to be happy, you need to share. He doesn't really do it of his own volition, either, and is told to. In this book, the main character is helped by his friends and he makes his own decision to share, which I think is a better message. My kid loves this book and always asks for it.
