In the year 1230, the Teutonic Order of Knights is given permission by the Holy Roman Emperor, the Pope and the Duke of Masovia to enter the lands of Pagan Prussia and join the Baltic Crusades. As the news reaches the scattered contingents, a select few are sent to begin the conquest on the other side of the Vistula. Amongst the knights sent, Dietrich von Hohenflacherstein will go and meet up again with his secret partner Meinhardt Lehenman.
