Shortcomings of the current cancer treatment modalities necessitate the need for newer therapies. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is an emerging, alternative, minimally invasive anti-cancer therapy that uses high-intensity ultrasound and chemosonosensitizer for the denaturation of cancer cells. SDT, works on the principle of sonoporation, which is vital for transfer of drugs and genes to be used synergistically with targeted therapy.
