The Woodwards live in rural Virginia, at the edge of the Duist Forest. The family of musicians hold as many secrets as there are trees in the woods. Their grief, love, and destinies are challenged when the forest begins unveiling its mysteries. Luckily, a song can protect all who are deemed 'family'. Excerpt: He was rooted in an awe of fear, like an ant standing in front of a god. The sun set under the horizon like a drop of rain falling from a cloud. The sky, only lit by a half-moon and distant stars, darkened Kel's backyard. The porch light of the Woodward house made the trees on the forest's edge somewhat visible. Kel remained still, scanning the forest.
