Songs, Albums & Quotes of Cher: A Pamphlet for Gen Z Cher Newcomers

Cher is a cultural phenomenon in fashion, music, and acting. She was a trendsetter in the 1960's with her bell-bottoms, bandanas and Cherokee inspired tunics. She had the signature long straight blacke parted and played the role of translator for America on counterculture and marketability. Her career has been marked by continuous reinvention. It started as Sonny and Cher as a pop duo making hits in the mid-1960's leading to "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" on television.

In their time together, they were nominated for two Grammy Awards, sold 40 million records and Rolling Stone ranked them #18 of the Greatest Duos of All-Time. Some of their musical hits were "Bang Bang," "I Got You Babe" and "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves." The couple divorced in 1974, and in time, Cherily Sarkisian would become her own solo act and legally change her name to Cher. Cher tapped into her inner strength to overcome shyness and inner insecurites and faked it until she made it as a singer, television and movie star. She has sold over 100 million albums, had four number 1 hits, 11 Top Tens and 19 songs in the Top Forty in addition to being an Academy Award winning actor.

She is the poster girl for plastic surgery, on the cover of People Magazine thirteen times and the only solo artist to have top ten hits for seven decades (1960's - 2020's). Some of those hits are "If I Could Turn Back Time" (1989), "Believe," (1998), "Song for the Lonely" (2002), "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" (2011), and "D.J. Play Me a Christmas Song" (2023).

This book includes a short history of Cher, a discography, her Top 40 hits, and the achievements of Sonny and Cher and Cher's solo career. This is a proper introduction for Gen Z.
