These poetic reflections have been written sporadically over fifty years, from the 1960's to recent times, and are like a memoir of my life's journey. They encompass a full spectrum of emotions from joy through despair and then back to feeling hopeful. While they are very personal, I feel that they are also united with the universal human search for meaning and a connection to a larger reality. I have named the book: Song Sparrow, and begin with a poem of this title, because it relates to an experience in my early twenties, but was not written until recent times when I again heard the amazing musical diversity of a song sparrow. Those two experiences span the years of this collection. In my youth, I was once referred to as a little sparrow, and that image has continued to live in my psyche.
