MEMORY LANE

Ms. Molare takes you on a road of looking into everyone's lives from the preacher of the neighborhood church to the unwed mother who believes everything that her boyfriend has to say to her. As you read through the book you begin to realize that these are everyday people matter fact they remind you of people you know and that is because Ms. Molare has written about everyday problems that you see in America. The stories are hilarious but realistic which makes you think about your neighborhood, your life and your family. Making you think well who does that sound like? Not only does Ms. Molare keep it real she doesn't hold anything back. Some of my favorite stories where The Oldest Lie Ever Told it takes a look at a high student who finds her self pregnant and in the aftermath the guy who is the child's father but only to realize that the Oldest Lie in the book has been told and now she has to raise her love child and of course there is Laying On Of The Hands we take a look at the Fifth Street Divine United Sanctified Church of the One and Only. Okay what a name for a church but it should tell you something is up already but the healing power well lets just say its some interesting healing power just be careful where you practice it at. Once you get done reading the many stories in this book the question you need to ask yourself is where did I fit in at in the book?

Up Close and Personal

Short stories, connected characters and seemingly outrageous and hilarious behavior is the gist of SOMEWHERE IN AMERICA by Sydney Molare. Twenty short stories highlight a particular neighborhood somewhere in America that could be my neighborhood, your neighborhood, or anyone's neighborhood, anywhere in America. The stories hit on the usual suspects, cheating spouses, the down-low brother who is not gay, the philandering preacher, the gold-digger, domestic violence, the maintenance man, too many rules from my parents, wacky weed, baby mama drama and the list goes on. The stories are funny and gritty; the book is fast-paced and will have you shaking your head at the chaos happening. Molare presents a realistic view of a typical neighborhood and its surrounding area that showcases human beings and the situations that they create for themselves. My favorite short story is the last one titled SOMEWHERE IN AMERICA, which features an elderly resident who has watched all the drama and heard all of the rumors amidst her window. It is truly hilarious as she proclaims - "My neighborhood, your neighborhood. Ain't no difference. Don't matter if it's hoity-toity or the ghetto. Ain't no different! The more things change the more they stay the same. You can move, but you can't escape it. Folks are the same everywhere. Same s___, different place, somewhere in America." Hilarious, entertaining, comical and definitely fitting and great for a good laugh, "Somewhere in America" is the book for you. Sydney Molare examines realistic situations humorously that occur in my neighborhood, your neighborhood and possibly every neighborhood in America; reminding you of someone or something that you have seen or either heard about. "Somewhere in America" revolves around numerous stories that deal with choices and repercussions of people in a typical neighborhood which includes the local preacher and deacons, Miss Uppity, the downlow guy, a stunned wife and the business man with a unique janitorial service. You will also meet the single mother of Shequanna, Quanisha, Mufar, Jamal and Latonia as she probes and navigates the system for the benefit of her family. The author also explores the subject of why a man need not buy the cow if the milk is already free, which serves as a lesson for the females of today. After reading "Somewhere in America", you will feel better and be energized. Sydney Molare has transformed stories of truth and reality by facing accurate life facts and living with the real deal regarding on-going life circumstances.
