If you're reading this then I have failed. My universe has come to an end, and for the worst, I think. The heroes and the villains have shaken hands, the outcome has been written, and thank goodness for that! Existence was exhausting. If you can't see it already, I should say I'm no hero. But, unfortunately, I was left out of the whole "universe ending" as a punishment for something I didn't' rightly deserve. My job, it seems, is to make sure the next incarnation of the universe --namely yours-- isn't as terrible as mine. But the joke's on the True Ones here. They left the job of saving your bubble of existence to a cowardly librarian --namely me. So instead of being courageous or wise or even remotely helpful, I'm going to use my newfound immortality to do something I've always wanted to do: write a book.So here it is, by the True One's own decree, my contribution to make your universe moderately less terrible. That isn't to say that someone reading this won't go on to save the world. And if you, reader, happen to save the world, great! Maybe I helped, if not, perhaps I've been entertaining.Despite my levity, there are some strange things in the world bound between these pages. But, I can tell you one thing. In this book you will encounter things you will not believe. In this book, the creators of the universe heed the advice of farm children. In this book, dragons help the librarians tutor mages. In this world, elves engineer biological experiments fit only for gods, dwarves live in cyberpunk technocracies and humans ... humans are exactly what you'd expect. If you wish to read about the fall of this strange world then prepare yourself; brew a cup of tea; because in this world civilizations will shake, demons will rise, and even godlike beings will shudder before a single human's invention. In this world, some things will be bizarre, and some things strange -- but give this world a chance and I promise I will show you something far stranger than magic.
