"Dr. Castelan," Elias said, with the clean professional register of an attending addressing a new rotation's resident. Neutral. Correctly warm. Nothing in it that required explanation.
Reef looked up. His face did the thing - a brief, arrested quality, something very quickly replaced by the professional expression he'd apparently gotten quite good at.
Which was interesting. Because at twenty-two, he had not been good at it at all.
