The poems in this collection reflect the poet's landscapes, those within and worlds beyond the sometimes trapped confines of her body. Lupus can and does ravage the body, but wings are not impossible to nourish.There is an intimacy here, in the nakedness of cells, cataracts and lymph nodes, but where the cells begin to disintegrate, a freedom is apparent; words loose themselves, travelling ever onwards.We are flight untrammelled, the poet says, using the language of butterflies, tea leaves and peace on a quiet road of healing, to disassemble boundaries between nations, cultures, geographies.
