Some Investigations on Natural Fiber Based Brake Materials

Introduction and Literature Review

In the present research work, an attempt has been made to identify an eco-friendly

natural fiber to be used as reinforcement in the manufacture of brake friction material. There is

an increase in environmental awareness in the world which has aroused an interest in the

research and the development of biodegradable and high-performance materials. The first

generation of modern brake materials was asbestos fiber reinforced composites. Due to the

environmental problem, the natural fibers were

introduced instead of asbestos fiber in this research work.
