Although the Bible does not say that they had a romance, it does not preclude one. Another ancient writing, Kebra Nagast, does give an account of a romance between Solomon and Sheba, and it is respectfully woven into the novel. Dramatic and passionate, the tale closely follows scripture where it can and incorporates many accounts including King David and Bathsheba, the killing of King David's sons Absalom, Amnon, and Adonai-jah, Nabal and Abigail, God's curse on the House of David, and the continuing tensions between Israel and Ammon. Most importantly, the novel shows the blessings that flow to those who follow the straight and narrow path, and the challenges that come to those who go their own way.
