Solitude's Palms

Loosely inspired by the tale of loneliness in "Eleanor Rigby," this collection of lyrical poems follows two anonymous figures-a woman and a girl-caught in parallel states of seclusion. As they drift through lands both real and dreamlike, their quests for connection are at first met with saddened bewilderment. Encountering only emptiness and ghosts, they feel as if some unbridgeable gulf has opened up between them and their surroundings. Yet, little by little, a transformation takes place. Each discovers a haven in quietude-an unexpected space of imagination, beauty, and reawakening to the world. Drawing on the author's own journey to find the inner peace she had always seen reflected in her mother while growing up, Solitude's Palms is a more hopeful variation on the Beatles' classic song of two lonely lives intertwining too late. Gradually, it paints a world in which solitude need not be a prison and can instead become a unique and sacred window through which to experience life.
