Although the war of 1812 proved critical to America's survival and identity, in the spring of 1811, amid escalating antagonism and emotional zealotry, the prospects for survival were abysmal. Eventually making their way to England, they are compelled to resort to deceit, disinformation, feints, facades, and the "ploy of suffering flesh," all in an attempt to achieve his aim.
