She leaves America in 1999 to backpack around the world, visiting 12 countries (in 5 continents) by herself. She believes she may be able to feel safe by having a lifestyle where she is not bound to one place & can easily pick up her backpack & move on whenever she feels threatened. And she's convinced she will be more comfortable among strangers who literally can't understand her, rather than feel alone with people she knows who aren't capable. This book tells about the experiences & transformation of a young woman on a pilgrimage for healing & a quest to retrieve her stolen spirit.
