Great Book to go through with a mentor

We use this nook as a basis for a mentor program. We go through the book chapter by chapter with discussion and weekly meetings. This book clearly explains vital topics that separate Christianity, as Christ intended it to be, from other religions and the fact that it's a relationship. Very good book!

One Size Fits ALL

I wish I was a good writer, then I could express something really eloquent that would inspire people who read this review to buy this book. I'll try my best, but if you're done reading this and still feel like you don't need to own a copy of SOLID, then I've failed--it's that good. I see SOLID as being one of those books that any Jesus-lover at whatever stage in their Christian life could benefit from purchasing. If you are a recent believer, then a fundamentally Bible-based book like this can start you off on the right path in your relationship with the Lord, uncover what you have inherited as a Christian, and save you from common misconceptions newborns in the faith possess. For those faithful pilgrims well into their journey of life, SOLID's message is a breath of fresh air, reminding us to continue on in the faith the same way we started it (Gal. 3:3) and that God still loves us and will not forsake us, no matter how many failures we have accumulated over the years. Finally, if your spiritual appetite is seeking a book with a deeper experience of Christ because you have already enjoyed SOLID's message, than why not purchase a copy and spread this gospel to someone else?! I speak from experience, as I gave my retiring Athiest colleague a copy. I thanked him for all his help at work, and told him, "This is the greatest gift I could give you in return." Why? Because I am convinced that if anyone opens SOLID's pages, they will be drawn to a newer appreciation of Christ. P.S. If you have a chance, try and attend one of John's conferences! To this day, the Spirit has brought up words in my heart from his speaking that have encouraged me to continue walking the narrow way.

Review of Solid

I began reading this book completely unsure about my standing as a Christian. Part way through the book I realized that I had been saved and by the end I had come to understand the meaning of eternal salvation. My understanding of fundamental Christian beliefs and confidence in my faith has become much greater with help of relevant examples and bible verses. The discussion questions in the back worked incredibly well even when I used them on my own as a way to reflect on my personal experience. I would recommend this book to all new Christians who have any questions or to any Christians with more experience; because we could all use a reminder about the truth behind what we believe.

Relevant and Engaging

As someone involved in campus ministry I am always looking for material that will help students be grounded in their faith and take steps forward in their relationship with Christ. Solid met and surpassed that criteria. The author found a way to present truth in an engaging and easy to understand writing style. The use of personal experiences and relevant examples throughout the book has provided me with new ways of answering some of the most common questions students ask me concerning salvation. I am currently reading through the book a second time, except this time with a student who has just recently received Christ as his Savior. He is getting a lot of help in understanding the faith and is eager to dive into the book each time we get together.

A review of SOLID, by John Myer

This book is a paint-by-numbers view of your eternal salvation. If you have ever been confused about some of the seeming contradictions concerning the eternal part of your eternal salvation, SOLID is a must-read. John Myer does a wonderful job of blending together, one by one, often-quoted doctrinal differences so that in the end you will not only believe in and feel eternally secured, but you will be embarrassed as to wonder how you could ever have doubted it to begin with. SOLID is not for the newborns only, but for all those who have ever had to withstand the earthquakes of doubts and fears often caused by our lack of insight regarding the matters of these truths concerning our eternal relationship with God. Upon completing this entertaining study of facts, you will not only be able to stand on them, you will also be enabled to run with them as you should have been doing all along. A real jump-start to your Christian faith, SOLID is as it is titled regarding the truths of our salvation.
