Book Overview

Stefan Ziakas might be her father's most hated business rival, but he's the only man who has ever made Selene Antaxos feel beautiful. So, needing to make a new life for herself, Selene apprehensively turns to Stefan for help. Except the dark-hearted tycoon is nothing like the white knight she remembers. Seduced, bedded and betrayed in a matter of days, Selene realizes it's not always better the devil you know. She's sold her soul--and her heart--to the enemy!

Enjoyable

I haven't read much by Sarah Morgan, but it was an enjoyable tale. No part of the story seemed likely- no basis in reality; certainly not the characters or the circumstances bringing the protagonists, Stefan Ziakis and Selene Antaxos, together years after their initial encounter at a social function when Selene was a gawky, shy teenage girl with stars in her eyes. But this is a work of fiction- and by definition is set to titillate the reader. It does that! Selene is incredibly naive, repressed, child-like without social graces or sophistication that Stefan has experienced with past affairs/women. Selene is a complete innocent who seeks a lifestyle of her choosing- fun, romance- and a tick list that she tackles with relish. Stefan is a calculating, hard, self-indulgent, distant macho man to whom emotions are an inconvenience. On the surface, their characteristics are far from compatible- one questions each's motivations at a reconnect. As the tale unfolds, their unlikely relationship evolves- and Stefan is cast in an unexpected role of potential protector and Savior for Selene and her mother. Can Stefan provide the refuge and safety measures required to ensure their well-being and foster trust? Is Selene any safer or any less repressed with Stefan's expectations and the intuited rules of their liason? Thus the crux of the plot and the basis for unchartered possibilities in this tale. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
