Solar Swarmageddon: When the sun's flares rewire earths insects

Sixty-six million years ago a huge asteroid hit this earth throwing up tons and tons of molten rock and ash into the sky triggering earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Many minerals were vented into the air often in microscopic grains, some as nanoparticles and were everywhere, especially in the cooling magma.
These particles were taken up by those feeding on the remains of living creatures including the dinosaurs and the mass of new fungi that spread in carpets over the decaying plant and animal remains.
One of these minerals was magnetite, an oxide of iron, which had strong interactions with magnetic fields.
A recent monster solar flare from the sun was accompanied by a large coronal mass plasma ejection. This had caused a huge geomagnetic storm which had broken and weakened the earth's magnetic field with serious consequences for the creatures on earth and mankind. Bees have been around for over one hundred million years and had learnt to navigate with the lines of the earth's magnetic field. Bees unable to navigate home became so aggressive that they turned on humans.
