I enjoyed Soft Shoulders especially because I could relate to the feelings expressed. I gave this book to friends and nieces. The story is told with a great deal of warmth.
A wonderful adventure in the Adirondacks

I was thrilled to read Ms. Frenettes story, being an upstate New Yorker myself. The story is captivating, as are the heroic main characters. The descriptions of the wilderness and the people had real flavor and made me long for the Adirondacks. I have shared copies of this book with my nieces who also now share an interest in the Adirondacks and the people who live there. A wonderful book.
Memories of Being a Child

The book Soft Shoulders brougt me back to childhoodmemories. Some sweet, some embarassing, some touching, some aching.Simply and directly it touched my heart with parent/child issues, who "wins" in struggles with a parent and why, bullies who really care underneath, accurate descriptions of beloved natural surroundings and their mystery, friendships and their meanings, and of course, the issue of snowpants wearing when I was 10 and too "cool" to wear them. I loved reading this book.
