Social Policy in Australia: Understanding for Action

By Paul Smyth and Alison McClelland

Social Policy in Australia guides students in how to analyse the impacts of social policy, and how to develop and advocate for better social policy in the future. Taking a critical approach, and placing their analysis of social policy in an international context, the authors provide a framework for understanding the actions, roles and relationships of the key players that influence the decision-making process. The new edition of this well-respected text has been fully revised and updated to reflect the significant changes in Australian society, including the election of the Rudd government and the emergence of climate change as a significant area of social policy.
