Social entrepreneurship (and social enterprise) is a concept that is increasingly being recognised as a mechanism for creating social and economic value (Borzaga and Galera, 2012; Mair and Marti, 2006)in society. The increased prominence of social entrepreneurship over the years is evident in the expanded debates it has sparked among academics and practitioners; in the heightened attention it has received in policy and business circles, and in the establishment of various institutions and networks on social entrepreneurship (Dees and Anderson, 2006; Defourny and Nyssens, 2010; Hoogendoorn, Pennings and Thurik,2010)
