Sophie Brown is what you would call a normal, everyday eighth grader. She gets decent grades, studies sort of regularly (as in never now because she has better things to do), and the sorta kid who's parents used to spend all their attention on her instead of her siblings. As Sophie gets older, her relationships start getting more fierce, Sophie has a crush and a new best friend, something that makes her cousin, Brielle, mad. But when Sophie's older sister gets sick and has to go to a special house in China, her parents stop focusing on her and more on her sister. Sophie and her brother have to learn that things are never going to be the same anymore, but that might be for the better.
