Vallarai [Centella asiatica] is a creeping herb with leaves that are kidney shaped. It grows in damp soils or adjacent to ponds and lakes where the soil is perineally wet. It is also grown in paddy fields and is propogated by cuttings. In addition to its intellect promoting and anxiolytic effects, the plant is also used in chronic cough, eczema, psoriasis and boils. It is in preparations given for anemia, dyspnea, amaciation, splenic enlargement, rheumatic joint pain, amenorrhea, and blood toxicity.
