Snow Day: A Yellowstone Adventure

By Bryan James Schaeffer

A snow day. A Yellowstone adventure. A friendship worth finding.

When a sudden winter storm sweeps across Yellowstone country, young Torrey sets out on skis with her beloved dog, Loki, for what should be an ordinary snow day. But when the two become separated, Torrey must venture deeper into the snowy wilderness, where an extraordinary adventure awaits.

As the storm closes in, the familiar landscape transforms into a world of wonder and mystery. Along the way, Torrey encounters Yellowstone's remarkable winter wildlife and discovers that the wilderness holds more than she ever imagined. Guided by courage, curiosity, and a little magic, she must find her way home-and discover what she's made of along the way.

Inspired by real adventures in Montana's Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, The Snow Day: A Yellowstone Adventure is a beautifully illustrated story of friendship, resilience, imagination, and the joy of exploring the natural world.

More than a decade in the making, the story draws inspiration from a family's journeys hiking, mountain biking, and skiing over 100 trails throughout Yellowstone country and Yellowstone National Park. Each landscape and season helped shape the illustrations and the hand-drawn animated film that brings this imaginative world to life.

Perfect for reading together on snowy evenings, sharing a love of wildlife and wild places, or inspiring the next generation of young adventurers.

Because sometimes the greatest adventures begin just beyond your own backyard.
