Sixty-five-year-old management consultant Len Giardia is disenchanted. Once considered a prodigy in his childhood, he now reflects that his life has not turned out quite as he expected.

His marriage has failed, he has become disgusted with his job, and he is constantly annoyed by his neighbors and business associates. His only solace comes from the occasional snorkeling trip to the Caribbean Islands.
