This is a book about freshwater fishing in Snohomish County and a fascinating personal history. Bob Heirman tells of his angling experiences from boyhood to the present day, a span of more than half a century. No doubt, most anglers have never heard of many of the waters described by this long time sportsman, naturalist and conservationist. The author has served as secretary-treasurer of the Snohomish Sportsmen's Club since 1960 and as president of the Snohomish County Sportsmen's Association since 1975. He has personally planted more backwoods lakes and streams with trout and salmon fry than any other sportsman in Snohomish County history. The author describes his childhood adventures on the tiny creeks, of present day efforts to enhance them, and why they must be protected. The very future of our salmon and steelhead fishery depends on it. This book did not happen overnight, but slowly evolved through the years. As a former freelance writer for the Snohomish County Tribune, the author's articles were very popular with readers and the people of Snohomish continually asked for more, resulting in his first book, "Snohomish, My Beloved County." This book represents one of a total of three books written by Bob Heirman. The other two are titled, "A Railroad Runs Through It" and "A Poets Paradise." Bob Heirman passed away on April 29, 2017 at the age of 84.
