"If You Ever Thought About Leaving it All, Read This"
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
This book is based on the life of the author, Ryan O'Reilly. He was in his late twenties when he realized he was already burned out. He gives it all up, jumps on his motorcycle for the trip that would change his life. Along the way he makes friends with another wanderer. He searches for the meaning of life as he experiences the life of a nomad. We have all experienced moments when we want to chuck it all and live a simpler life. Most of us never act on that impulse. Part of me envies the author and a part of me says...NOT ME! This is a very interesting book. Readers will be entertained.
A Worthwhile Adventure

There are quite a few books in the marketplace that tell the tales of people hitting the road and exploring, attempting to figure out how their respective lives should be. Some of these books never really go anywhere. This book did--and it left me wanting more.

Author Ryan O'Reilly very loosely based Snapshot on his own life experiences as a former worker drone of corporate America, and the burnout that caused him to leave his job behind to work for a touring band. In Snapshot, the twenty-something protagonist opts to quit the rat race and hit the road to find his dreams. Embarking on a motorcycle-borne journey of self-discovery, he lives as a vagabond searching for enlightenment, experiences modern counterculture, and befriends a fellow wanderer. It's not the destination that matters as much as the journey itself, in this unforgettable personal saga.
